The International Symposium ANTIQVAE FEMINAE: Ancient Female Sculptural Portraits and their Afterlife – Studies, Analyses and Digital Reconstructions was held at the Forum of the Weltmuseum Wien, Vienna, from 19 to 22 May 2026.
The event brought together specialists in archaeology, art history, archaeometry, conservation and digital humanities to discuss new approaches to the study of female sculptural portraits from antiquity and their later reception.

Symposium Highlights
Organised within the framework of the ANTIQVAE FEMINAE project, the symposium brought together researchers, museum professionals and specialists in digital heritage from different countries and institutions. Over four days, participants exchanged ideas, presented new research and explored future collaborations in the study of female sculptural portraiture.

Opening Session
The symposium opened at the Forum of the Weltmuseum Wien, bringing together specialists from archaeology, art history, conservation and digital humanities.
